Is Vision Insurance Worth the Cost?

If you do not have vision coverage through an employer, you may have wondered if you can get your own plan and if so if it is worth the cost. You can ask a insurance broker to help you find a plan OR you can get your own plan and skip the middle man. Vision Service Plan (VSP) offers VSP Individual Plans that may be just right for you! The good new is that their plans start at just $15 a month. With the rising costs of everything else, it’s good to know that you could save hundreds on eye care and eyewear.

With VSP Individual Plan, you can get coverage instantly and on your own. These plans are for uninsured patients who are retirees, self-employed workers, contractors, part-time workers, unemployed, aged out dependents, and Medicare recipients.

I am an optometrist and I have dealt with almost every type of vision insurance out there. VSP is by far the best for patients and for their provider. Click the learn more button and it will take you to a VSP website. You will enter your zipcode and then it will show you the plans available in your area. You can also use the find a provider link to make sure the provider you want to see participates in VSP.

Back to School Checklist Should Include an Eye Exam

It all begins with an idea.

Start the school year off right by making sure your children are ready to learn!  Eighty percent of what a child learns comes through their eyes.  One in four school-aged  children have an undiagnosed vision problem that interferes with learning.  Having an undiagnosed vision problem could greatly affect your child’s ability to learn.

A back to school exam should include a comprehensive eye examination with dilation.  A child’s first exam should be before 1 year of age, then during preschool, prior to kindergarten and then yearly.

Children sometimes will not complain about their vision…they don’t always know what they should be seeing.  Things to watch for include:

-           difficulty concentrating on school work

-          poor reading comprehension

-          headaches

-          blinking

-          frequent eye rubbing or squinting

-          blurred vision

Scheduling an appointment with an optometrist is the best way to ensure your child has the vision necessary to learn.

If you want to save money on your exam and eyeglasses, click the ‘learn more’ link to view VSP plans in your area.

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
